Full Question:

I am doing a needs assessment for the city of Harrisburg. I am having trouble finding a few statistics. I checked some poverty websites and the U.S. Census Bureau website for persons living in poverty in Harrisburg by race. Found statistics by age, sex, but none on race. Also, looking for number of registered democrats, republicans, libertarians, and independents in the city of Harrisburg. Tried various websites such as the official PA website, legislative website, department of state website. I found a breakdown for Dauphin County but nothing for Harrisburg. Can you give me any suggestions? Thanks very much!

Answer:

To find poverty status data by race you will need to use data set (summary file 4). Did you try using American Fact Finder from Census website? I printed out customized table for you, but not sure what races you are looking for in particular.

It is complicated to explain in detail about how to do the search and using American FactFinder. Would you be able to stop by by the library? If so, I can show you how to get data or you can pick up few tables I created for you.

I believe only the voter registration data by county are made available to public access. You probably need to contact the City of Harrisburg.
