The best places to search for education-related topics is in Education Research Complete and in ERIC.  From library.ship.edu, choose "Library Databases A-Z" and then then "E" for these databases.

I entered native language* in one search box (the asterix allows singular and plural) and classroom* in the second search box. I found over 700 articles You can narrow the search to articles which are studies by adding the word "study" to your search.  You can also limit your serch to full text articles.
