Students can drop a class at any time through their My Ship account.

Before dropping a class, please consider the following:

  • Do you have any Financial Aid?
If yes, you should check with the Financial Aid office about how dropping the class might affect your award.
  • After dropping the class will you still be registered for 12 or more credits?
Twelve (12) credits is the minimum to be considered a full-time student. If you are not a full-time student, you might no longer qualify for continuing health insurance coverage through your parents' plan(s).
  • How long do you plan to take to graduate?
120 credits (in an approved degree curriulum) is the minimum number of credits needed to graduate. This traditionally means you need to take 15 credits per semester for 8 semesters to earn a Bachelors degree.
If you take 12 credits per semester, it will take 10 semsters (5 years) to graduate, which will cost you an extra year's tuition and fees.

Keep in mind that dropping a course via My Ship is irrevocable.

Speak to your professor before dropping the class.

Also, speak to your advisor before dropping the class -- you may have other options available.
