In looking carefully at Safari, I can certainly understand your problem. Safari does not allow downloads or any kind of personalization. The best workaround I can come up with is to use the "Page URL" button [see graphic below]. Clicking the URL icon provides you with the URL of the page you are currently reading. If you email this to yourself, you should be able to open that page when your are ready to read again by starting with your email reminder. It worked for me. Let me know if you find success wiith it.
