Many new students find that the academic demands at SHIP are significantly more challenging than what they experienced before.  In your first semester, it is important to create a schedule of courses that will allow you to get off to a good start on your path to academic success.  Most students will take 4-5 courses (12-15 credits) in their first semester. You may not register for more than 17 credits without special permission from your dean. If you have earned developmental placement in reading, you will be limited to take 4 courses (including developmental reading) in your first semester. Source: Office of the Registrar.
