When insuring an item, you need to take in consideration of what it would actually cost to replace that item.  If your insuring something that cost $300 to replace and are insuring it for $1,000,  odds are if the claim is accepted you may only get the replacement cost of that item.  For items such as antiques, rare items, or things that have sentimental value, you may have to provide proof of that items value.
